Washag (Incense)

A unique Libyan incense made from natural resins (including frankincense), woods, herbs and aromatic oils. The exact mixture varies widely depending on the region of Libya, as washag dates back to the ancient trade routes to Arabia, central Asia and West Africa.

Present in a nomad's tent or a city villa alike, it is burnt over hot charcoal on an incense burner to fill the home with strong fragrances. Its many uses include hospitality, celebrations of life events, home cleansing, spiritual ceremonies and more.
